Post Console Commands

Hi guys I need a little help, In my line of work I get to see all kinds of servers and OSs, but Novell is not my expertise, but once in a while I have to deal with it, and ususally the site does not have an IT person with enough knowledge, any way my question is: is there a list or HAS someone compiled a list of Novell 4 and 5 commands, that I can reference, to find out how the server is setup or protocols, service packs, etc, to do basic server management.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Here are some useful Novell links:

(there is a link to a command reference near the bottom of the page)

No Netware Admin should be without the Novell Knowledgebase. Has saved my bacon on countless occasions.

And if you're doing remote management on a 4.x server, you will need to know the XCONSOLE commands:

If you have any other questions, this is the place to ask.

The neat thing about netware is that all the patches, installs for it are all done from the workstation, not the console, so you can stick the server somewhere and forget about it. (actually happened at some university, their server got trapped behind a wall of drywall, and they had to trace the line to find it (construction workers had walled it in, had something like 3 or 4 years uptime on it)

Mac might remember that one from the Novell Uptime record contest they were having...

"The University of North Carolina has finally found a network server that, although missing for four years, hasn't missed a packet in all that time. Try as they might, university administrators couldn't find the server. Working with Novell Inc. (stock: NOVL), IT workers tracked it down by meticulously following cable until they literally ran into a wall. The server had been mistakenly sealed behind drywall by maintenance workers. "
