TECRA vs. SATELLITE

Anyone know why the Toshiba Tecra runs about $1000 more than a Toshiba Satellite with the same specs?

i had a satellite at one time, actually wouldn't recommend getting a toshiba, but...

what are the dimensions on the tecra, find out and compare them with the satellite.

i know the satellite i had was pretty think and pretty heavy, i think the tecra is more designed for business use also.

not sure about the big price difference though

I'm comparing the Tecra 9000 and Satellite Pro 6000. The Satellite Pro is a little faster, but it's a little bigger & heavier. Still I don't see how that justifies a $1000 price difference. Oh well.

there are 12 or 13 different configs of the tecra and only 2 for the 6000.

warranty. sat pro only has 1 year, tecra comes with 3.

the sat pro has a trident 16mb dispaly adapter while the tecra has a super savage 16mb display adapter (savage is way better).

the tecra's lcd (on some models) is capable of higher resolutions than the sap pro's lcd.

battery on the tecra recharges about 1/2 hour quicker that the sat pro's.

Tecra has built in wireless lan adapter in addition to the rj11 and rj45 connectors.

Tecra is more shock resistant

tecra can have 3 different sizes of hard drives, and the drive has a faster access time than the sat pro's.

I could give you more, but I really have to get back to work. I suggest you open 2 browser windows like I did, or print off the specs of both units you are considering and take a look at the differences. The tecra is well worth the extra $1000 when you see all the differences.
