Gateway Solo 2500 PII 366 just quit on me! HELP!!
Hello Guys,
I'm in school in Germany, and have a work issued Gateway that died, AND IT HAS ALL MY RESEARCH ON IT! This is what happened...
Unit was working great, downloaded some web pages to take back to my room to research, but when I got there, the unit won't work. When you press the power button, the power light comes on, the HDD and CD indicator shows on the status bar (you can hear both accessing), and that's it. I tried pulling the battery, and running straight AC, but no difference. I've also pulled all the PCMCIA cards, no difference, I've pulled and re-seated the memory, hard drive, and floppy, but no difference. I get NOTHING on the screen (black, no attempt to show anything, no shadows, etc.) The darn thing just won't boot! The unit has an RCA video out (I'm thinking to hook up to a TV) I tried that, still nothing. I was thinking maybe the CPU had become loose. I started to disassemble the laptop (I've never messed with these) and found that they aren't that easy to tear apart, so I aborted that (It's a work computer). If anyone can give me any ideas, I would be forever gratefull!
Thanks!

could be a loose connection...more likely that you pushed the Fn+LCD/CRT key combination....try using these keys and let us know.

First: borrow another one of those from work - put your hdd in it and backup your data! Then call gateway and get an RMA - I have had nothing but trouble with cow computers.
