Printscreen inquiry
A lady in my class says it doesn't work when she tries to do alt+printscreen. She says that she has to do windowskey+printscreen and then supposedly that copies to the clipboard, and then she has to get the copied imaged from the clipboard to paste. This is in ME. I've never heard of this before, and couldn't offer any advise. So do any of you have any advise I could give her? I told her I'd look into it.

Print screen = snapshot of desktop into memory. Use any paint program, including MS Paint to view image after pasting from clipboard.
Alt+ Print Screen = snapshot of “active window” into memory.

Yeah I know. But it doesn't work for this lady. Any idea of why? I use it all the time and it works fine. I can't even think of any settings to change it (except keyboard shortcuts, or possibly registry settings.) But she claims that she hasn't tweaked anything. So I guess I have to believe her unless I could actually take a look at the PC.

First I have heard of this phenomenon. M$ search comes up empty.
Perhaps she is mistaken, or maybe her keyboard has been remapped?

Yeah, I did bring that keyboard thing up to her. I asked her if it was a generic custom system, or if it was a proprietary system like a Dell or Compaq or something. But she claims that she hasn't tweaked anything at all (and I seriously doubt she'd even know how after talking to her.) She didn't really know what kind of system it was. I was thinking maybe she has a non-standard keyboard. Or like you're saying, the keyboard mapping might be different somehow. Anyway, strange issue. Never heard of it before.

Usually, I just go to <a href="http://www.download.com," target="_blank">www.download.com,</a> and get a
free printscreen utility for 98 and ME machines. Seems to work fine.

The print screen function doesn't seem to want to work with WIN ME (but then what does?) I have also seen it not work with WIN98 FE. Poseidon
is correct in the way it works on my XP machine. I think the freeware print screens programs are a better alternative.
