    Thumbs down Weird Desktop Icons

Here's the deal. A customer brought her computer in and about 3/4's of the desktop icons are the same. (Quickbooks icon) I have tried to return them to their proper look. The right icon appears in the box when I try a "change icon" thing, but it doesn't correct it on the desktop.
    No virus detected.
    No active desktop.
    No shelliconcache.
    No more ideas?????

    Anybody got any ideas?

Does this happen only on the desktop, or throughout folders in Explorer, for example? Is there anything running on system boot that is screwing things up? Maybe a video card utility that remembers desktop icon positions, perhaps? Run MSCONFIG and see.

Try TweakUI and use the rebuid icons options. Worth a shot.

Only on the desktop. Msconfig looks very clean for a Compaq. The only things running are Norton and Hotsync. I checked the staticvxd tab and disabled a couple of things. No dif.
When the icons first come up they are correct for about a half second, then they all change at once.

What about Safe Mode? Does the problem happen then?
