    Post Find got capricious

I logged on this morning only to realize that the Search/Find does not search local drive C: or local hard disk C:, but it does search floppy A: and CD.

e.g. I type *.log and click the search now botton. If it is on drive C: nothing happens. Changing the file name, with or without * does have no effect. Pressing Enter key doesn't do any better.

Help not documented. Microsoft no better, or at least I couldn't find anything. Restore, I went back as far in time as it can go nothing.

    Any idea?

Can you browse (bottom of "Look in:" list) to a specific folder and search from there? If you can do that then I have no idea right now. If you can't do that, then I also have no idea besides that it probably isn't recognizing that there's a drive there. Why it wouldn't recognize a drive when the OS does is beyond me. Just throwing out some things to get more info...

    Free,

I did your suggested trick and I re-did it now. No pulse.

Did searching by picking a specific foler work? Did the MKB article help you fix it? Do you have tweakui? If you do or not, and whatever tweakui changes got changed (by itself or another program...a virus maybe?) then I don't really know besides looking for info on what system settings disable searching. Sorry it's not much help...

No, searching by picking a specific folder did not work. MKB did certainly help, I got tweak UI and fixed it from there. I don't know how it chaged. No, there is no virus.
