Acer CDRW, Adaptec EasyCD and WinME
I posed this question here and in CD-Rom/CD-R. Has anyone had a problems with Acer's CRW1032 10x4x32x CDRW, the included Adaptec EasyCD software and WinME?
I installed the drive and EasyCD. Everything worked OK until I put a CD-R in the drive, then the computer would either lock, or run SO SLOW that it couldn't be used. I tried updating the drive firmware, and I downloaded the newest version of EasyCD. Nothing helped. I put the drive in a Win98SE machine with EasyCD and it works fine.

well that is odd, I have an older Acer CD-RW (4x4x32x) and have only had problems with it using cheap crappy disks and when my power would keep restarting...even have the old 2.5 drivers, no problems. Check for confilcts and/or Irc's happened all the time with me on Win95 and sometimes with Win98..

I've had a few problems with the ACER cd-burners. Mainly to do with the Audio writing speed. I don't recall anything to do with the problem your having. I've installed a 8x4x32 CR-RW in ME and haven't had a problem with it. HAve you hooked it up to the ATA66 or ATA100 IDE port. I heard somewhere that some burners don't like it.
