Problems when exiting games on ME
I've been asked to resolve this:
Emachines system, RAM upgraded to 128MEG, onboard graphics of some sort. Games play fine, but on exit (from both The Sims and Worms armageddon) the user is left with a movable mouse pointer on a blank screen. 3 finger salute doesn't bring up task manager but the keyboard is responding. No right click menu though.
Tried openning a text file before entering the game and this allowed me to ALT TAB on game exit, then I could bring up task manager and kill WA, doesn't work for the Sims.
If anyone has a quick and easy fix for this I'd be grateful. Thanks in advance.
What does this button do?

I would suspect WinME. Very poor performer for games. Plus you've got on board graphics to boot! Bad combo, buddy. Games in today's era need a seperate GPU. With your onboard vid, you put more strain on the CPU, making your whole system unstable. And it's an emachine with a celeron, K62?
Invest in a good system, because software always develops for the better (well some do), and takes advantage of the new technologies that come out.
Do you have onboard sound too?
If all you're playing is the Sims, disable all additional programs like antivirus, AOL, etc. That might make your system a little more stable.
Hey man! Hand me that thing. Not that thing! The other thing!!! You know, the thing!!!

You should drop that board man and buy a mobo with no on board video/shoud/etc. I would bet the problem lies with a combination of the board and ME. For a temp fix, disable all on board stuff you are not using(ie USB and 1394 controllers). You might also upgrade to Win2k Pro which handles memory and resources much better than ME.

I would agree with the others. The onboard video is probably the culprit. I have Windows ME and The Sims on my machine and both run (and exit) just fine.
