    Question Conservative Swapfile Usage in WinME??

    There is a very useful tweak for Win98SE where by adding a single line to the 386enh section of your SYSTEM.INI file (ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1), you can force Windoze to use all Physical RAM first before using the much slower swapfile virtual memory. This has greatly enhanced my overall system performance under Win98SE.

    A buddy of mine is using WinME, and I'm wondering if anyone has tried this same tweak in WinME??

    Much Thanx in Advance...

    Yes, that tweak still works in ME, as do most sys.ini tweaks.

    Sounds a good tweak. It makes any difference if this line is placed at the begining or the end, or anywhere in the middle?

    Just cut and paste:

    ConservativeSwapFileUsage=1

    It doesn't matter where, as long as it is within the [386enh] section.

    Thumbs up

    This is an effective tweak, i will use almost all my system memory without even accessing the disk.
    Downside...disk will go into 'sleep mode' and take forever to spin backup when needed...usualy not until I open a new app.
