Cannot connect WinME to WinNT4 server
HELP! I have tried everything imaginable to connect my WinMe install to my WinNT server.
Every time I logon, I get an error message stating that there is no domain server available to verify my password. This is on a machine that was running Win98 yesterday with identical hardware, having NO trouble connecting to the server.
Any suggestions?

Ping first, yourself then the network.
then check your IP & subnet mask, Network ID's & Domain names. Then make sure you have an authorized account on the NT server.
P.S. WinME is a joke!

Heard that MS sys there is a problem with ME pinging the network, but willnot let you ping by server name. They offer a work-around, but I've never seen it work.I know others have had this problem, but I do not know any resolution.

I've been running WinME for about 5 months now, and am on a LAN with an NT4 server, and have not had any problems logging on or anything. I really don't know why it doesn't work for you.

What network card are you using? Are the drivers installed properly? If you are just using TCP/IP on the network how is your IP being assigned? Is it static or DHCP? Try installing NetBEUI on both the server and the WinME box and check to see if that will allow you to log on. I have 5 WinME boxes that connect to both an NT4 server and a 2K server with no problem.

I personally would advise against using NetBEUI, but then again, that is just my opinion.

NetBEUI is slow, but it is normally fail safe for testing purposes.
