Post Unable to change content advisor.

Have a customer with a freshly installed ME os. He is unable to browse the net because all RSACi in the content advisor are set to max. He has never enabled content advisor nor has he installed a password of any kind, however when he tries to change the settings it ask for a password. I also saw this on a NT4 OS and it too was freshly installed. None of my password diggers do any good. HELP! He also did a second reformat and reinstallation of ME. Still the same problem.

Ok, here's what you can try... Straight from Microsoft...
    http://support.microsoft.com/supp ort/kb/articles/q154/9/99.asp?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=Content%20advisor&rnk=1&src=DHCS _MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=W98

    Summary: Delete c:\windows\system\ratings.pol

You then may be able to go into content advisor and either turn it off or reconfigure it.

Thanks! Still comes back wanting a non-existent password! Ah the advantages of my open source LINUX system.

    Red face

MS wants $35.00 and his life history to cure his problem. I am not a software person but it seems there should be some way to defeat this without wiping the system.

Also by the way if you ever have to contact Microsoft and have a non OEM version of any operating system I have had no troubles with them helping me for free through the email support. I have a full retail version of Windows 2k and constantly email them questions about 98 and they've helped me everytime so far, actually the only support people I've talked to who haven't blamed all the problems on others.
