What Do You Allow to Run at Startup?
Hey everyone. I posted a question earlier requesting the description of items that started up in my msconfig/startup directory. I was wondering if anyone desired to state what they allow to run at startup. What programs running at startup work best for you? As a second part, what have you unchecked that caused you problems?

I don't run anything but taskmon.
I don't load the power profile or mmtask or anything else. No apps no services unless I need to print I put it on.
I gutted my started from the registry.

Another thing I wouldnt recommend taking out is scanreg, unless you remember to manually backup your registry.

I turn off the second power profile that loads. Any printer stuff and adaptec direct cd, ( it a big resource drain).

I try not to have anything run but power profile, taskmon, and my short reminder list. If this an e-machine keep power profile on.. alot of the e-tower 633 series have problems without it.

I usually turn off both power profiles, scheduling agent and taskmon.

What exactly does the power profile and the task monitor do? I've run cpu's both with and without them, and havn't really noticed any difference.
