[RESOLVED] F-PROT on a floppy?

I use to be able to get all the necessary F-PROT files (f-prot.exe, sign.def, sign2.def, nomacro.def, and english.TX0) all on a single floppy. This was great, because I could start an infected computer from a clean boot disk, and then be able to load and run F-PROT from the floppy with having to copy anything to the infected computer.

Now, of course, the above files are too big to fit all on one floppy.

Does anyone know how to make F-PROT run over multiple floppies without having to copy files to the suspect computer?

Try using WinImage ( www.winimage.com ) to create a 1.68 Mb floppy. The file format is the one that MS used for early Win95 distributions, also Office 95. That should keep you going for a while longer. After that, it's an external zip drive, I'm afraid ! I'm an F-Prot fan too .... hot stuff !

Pogi, try going to www.bootdisk.com they have F-prot on a floppy and also defs up to 1/17/01

I like the signature, Pogi ... once in a while I learn something from somebody who knows less than me ... but they learned from different teachers ! I LIKE filling the gaps in my knowledge !

Jeff - the signature is from a Grateful Dead song, "Scarlet Begonias". If you ever get a chance to listen to the Dead's 5/8/77 show, where "SB" flows seamlessly into "Fire On The Mountain", go for it.

It's Grateful Dead music for people who say they don't like the Grateful Dead.

One thing I have been meaning to do is try to make a boot disk kinda like MS's Win 98 boot disk: it has a .CAB on it, which then in turn extracts that CAB to a RAM drive

I would probably use a ZIP file and PKUNZIP (or a self-Extracting with ZipMagic 2000, whichever uses less space) as well as RAMdrive.sys

But I need to get around to doing that. Now that I am thinking of it, I will probably do it tomorrow(It's getting late 4 me)

I'll check it out, Pogi ... I'm a Dead fan too, as befits an aging hippie. Not got a huge amount of Dead myself , but a friend has been collecting Dead bootlegs for 20 years, he's CERTAIN to have that show !
