[RESOLVED] AV Help Needed
Friend of mine didn't practie safe computing and now has 3 infected systems. One of which he uninstalled IE on and now it doesn't boot at all...the other two are limping along but he says he cant go to a online virus scan site cause when he does IE shuts down.
I haven't had an infection in years so I'm not really sure of the current state of av products other than what I use. I know Dr. Solomon's used to have a disc you could download to scan and remove viruses and Norton also had one but I've looked and they don't seem to be that way now. I haven't yet looked at his computers so I'm not sure what virus(es) he has on this sytems.
Anyone know where I can download a bootable disk that will scan and clean?

This sounds like the w95.mtx virus. There is a fix for it on Mcafee.com , if you want I can e-mail it to you.

Thanks...I read one of the other poston here about F-Prot and am going to give that a go since its a single disk answer. I saw the specific solutions on Norton's site but since I haven't actually been to the computers yet I'm unsure of what he has.

You could also download InoculateIt PE from http://antivirus.cai.com . It has a real time monitor, and it's free!
