Resolved [RESOLVED] Restoring TVD Management Edition

Does anyone know if you can succesfully restore the Management Edition to a PC that has been reinstalled and use the existing repository on the Anti-Virus domain management server?

You know how it is - every 6 months or so you've tested every piece of software on the planet and eventually there is nothing left but to have a good old housekkeping clearout (you all know the one - C:\format c
A couple of hours and everythings peachy again - just like the day (the company) you bought it!!

    LOL

I've done this a few times. However I've never been able to fine a way or re-installing Management Edition using the exisiting repository on the server. You then have to reinstall the repository and send an update to all the member w/s with anti-virus protection.

Does anyone know can this be done?

Took my own advice and read the f***ing manual -well the NAI knowlege base actually.

The answer to this post is that this can be achieved so long as you back up two files from the previous ME installation from the PC running the Management Console - domain.mcn (contains your anti-virus domain info) and mcon.reg (the local registry entries that point to all the av software in the registry on the management server).

Re-install ME, restore domain.mcn over the new copy, double click mcon.reg to retore the reg keys and your in business again.

Did I backup up these files - errrrrrrrrr???

Ho Hum - You live and learn don't ya?

Back in a few days, just got to go and reinstall an anti-virus domain!!

    LOL
