Resolved [RESOLVED] Can't execute files copied from CD-ROM

Trying to copy [Win 98 CD-ROM]:\Win98\*.* to the hard drive.

A copy of [Win 98 CD-ROM]:\Win98\setup.exe will not execute from the hard drive.

    Any ideas?

Try taking the "Read Only" attribute off. Might Help

If this is an original windows 98 cd then I have no idea.
However, if this is a 'backup' copy of windows 98 and the files and folders are lowercase instead of upercase, then you are out of luck.
Lowercase files format is created using packet writing cd burning software which unfortunatly is only compatible within a windows environment.

    Thank you for your responses!

Microsoft Tech held my hand through the installation.

First he freed up a little more conventional memory and then setup.exe ran.

During the install and every reboot afterwards; any plug-n-play functions would hang. Because of these problems, the Microsoft Tech suggested I might need to flash my BIOS because Win98 depends heavily on the plug-n-play capabilities of the BIOS.
