Post Difference between ST and SC fiber

Does anyone know what the difference is between ST and SC. Is it just the connection type? I am fairly new to working with fiber, but I need to order some fiber equipment and I'm not sure which type I need.

    Thanks for any help.

ST or SC refers to the type of connector on the fiber cable. If it's 2 ends connected to a block type connector it's an SC. If it's 2 individual connectors it's an ST.

I think this is right. But it's been awile since I've worked with the equipment.

I dug through my parts closet last night and found some fiber patch cables. They are the same type we are currently using and they were marked as being ST. They have a pair of round connectors at both ends. Thanks for your help Imagenatas!
