Post Internet Connection Sharing keeps dialing up

    I have two similiar situations.

A business called because their modem router dials up every few minutes since they put a new computer on the network. The new computer (a Dell) just sits there as a DATA server. (all Windows 98 machines)

Secondly, I have Internet Connection Sharing set up at home. We installed Quickbooks on the workstation, now the server dials up and connects to the Internet. (Both are Windows 98 machines)

Someone will be visiting the business in a few days to disable everything in Startup, since CTRL+ALT+DELETE'ing and "End Tasking" the programs seems to have fixed them for the short term.

Anybody know how to tell Quickbooks to mind it's own business? Or is there a way to disable modem access to all programs except Internet and Email?

Do you have QB 2000? I had the same problem. Found the answer here:

As far as the Dell goes, I think the new Dell's come with an "update" feature much like Windows Update. It can be turned off using MSCONFIG (I think).

    Thanks BeelzeBubba.

From what I remember (pardon misspellings), Beelzebub came from the god "Ba'al Zvul", which means "Lord of sacrifices.". Jews mocked that god by calling it "Ba'al Zvuv," which means "Lord of the flies."
That name got shortened and slurred to the modern day "Beelzebub".

So you name would mean "Lord of the Bubba."
