[RESOLVED] PING error code 10050 query
I get the error when I try to ping a site:
Transmit failed, error code 10050
I'm trying to send a workunit to foldingAthome on 171.64.122.101
Is there a list of ping error codes somewhere?

I have this page bookmarked for ping error codes. http://www.sockets.com/err_lst1.htm
The author points out (correctly) that since MS ripped the ping routing from Berkley's implementation, any BSD network error table will be correct for ping.

Thanks, Ping error 10050 means the network is down.
OK, next question, why is the link from Australia to some parts of North America down? Who tripped over the cable?

Somewhere between here and there you're probably passing through a router that is set to automatically discard all ping packets, so you never receive a response.

I suggest Using a Tracing Utility - it will be more efficient.
BTW - this discussion is clearly for the Networking Board.

I've also seen this on PCs with a corrupted TCP/IP stack.
If you still get this error when pinging 127.0.0.1 (yourself), remove all networking items in your Network Neighborhood properties and reboot to proceed with a re-install.
