Remote Access
I have two Dell Latitude 500 laptops running WinNT 4.0. We can get it to connect to the RAS server but that's it. It won't connect to our LAN--a Nortel box. Checking IP...it indicates there is one but it will only ping itself. We can't ping aything else. It did work at one point.
I've reinstalled the software, checked all the settings and am now at a loss with what to check next. Nothing that we have tried seems to work. Other laptops with the same settings and configuration work fine.
The NIC card is a Psion Gold Card.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you don't have RAS set up right ya won't be able to ping anything beyond it. Did someone change or add some subnets to your WAN? I ain't the brightest so I need some more info concerning your set-up b 4 I can recommend a course of action. Explain your total scenario from NT 4 box internet service to LAN (DNS set up etc...)

This is a corporate setup so everything is pretty much standard. We even checked the settings with a laptop that was working. Everything appeared the same. Of course our networak guys just blame NT....it doesn't like to talk with NORTEL boxes.
I'm not sure what info you are looking for but we have a direct connection to the internet, ip is assigned through DHCP, and no settings are entered for DNS. Using a Psion 56K Gold Card.
NT4 workstation, using dial up networking to attach to the RAS, and Novell client to connect to the LAN.
We dial in to the RAS server, which works fine, from there it's supposed to attach to the LAN -- but doesn't.
We've reinstalled RAS...still didn't work.
Let me know what additional information you need?

Tried reinstalling client? latest version? Do you have the proper logon/password/rights for the RAS client to log into the LAN? If i understand you right, your laptop is trying to access a mixed Netware/NT environment and you might need to access a Netware server first rather then a NT box, I am not really sure.

Sorry this took so long to reply....have been on vacation. After reinstalling the RAS service, several times, we finally got it to work.
Thanks for all you help.
