Internet Explorer ASCII mode???
Ok, i wasnt sure where to post this problem, but networking seemed ok.
Is there ANY way of uploading files using FTP in ASCII mode in Internet Explorer? The problem is that i cant use any FTP client software cause of our firewall restrictions, etc.
Im using Internet Explorer 5, ( i think it is anyway, came with Office 2000).
All i need to do is upload some cgi/perl scripts to my server, but it scrambles them when uploaded!
Please help, ive no other way around it.
Thanks for anyhelp,
Simon B

Is it because you can't use any FTP client software or is it because the FTP ports have been disabled?
You can use IE4+ to FTP, the URL is in the form:
ftp : // {username { : password} @ } ftp_address /
For example:
ftp : // john : doe @ ftp.mysite.com /
will login to ftp.mysite.com using the username "john" with the password "doe".
You can then upload files by dragging and dropping the files from a (normal) Windows Explorer into the IE window. Make sure you have permissions to upload otherwise it still won't let you.
If the FTP ports are disabled, you still won't be able to FTP, so try an external FTP proxy, like <a href="http://web2ftp.com/" target="_blank">http://web2ftp.com/</a> that uses a web front-end to FTP your files for you.
