Post WinXP unable to view network

I am having trouble with my laptop running WinXP Pro to see the rest of my home network. I have 2 Win2k Servers running and a few other WinXP desktops. The networking is running on just a Workgroup setup, no domain. When I try to view the Workgroup computer from my laptop, it says "Not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource." When I had Win2k on the laptop, I had no problems. I stopped Computer Browser service to see if that would help, but it did not. I also setup up a WINS server on one of my Win2k servers and that did not help either. Please help!

Can you ping them? If you can't then you probably don't have tcp/ip configured right. Have you checked all the physical connections? There are tons of things that could be responsible but first check pinging them then move onto something else such as wires.

On another note setting up a wins server really won't do much for you due to win2k and xp relying on dns not wins for name resolution, in fact if i was you get rid of wins asap, MS only included it for backward compatibility.

Enable the Guest account. right click my computer, manage,. expand on the Local Users and Groups and select the Users folder. On the right hand side there should be a guest account with a red x, dbl click that and uncheck Account disabled. You should be able to see the otrher pc's now on the network.

Hey I also was having the inablility to view my network. I tried all the suggestions listed below. Finally I tried a back door route. I mapped a drive by using what info I knew about my network. I used the IP address and the share name to let me see the network.
    For example (\\000.000.000.000\drive C)
    this worked for me!
