[RESOLVED] Problems with MS Proxy 2.0 HELP ME
Okay, let's see how frustrated we can get. I have a small (5 computers, 1 server) home network. All 5 clients are win2k pro and the server is Win2k Advanced server. This is setup in a domain environment. I've recently installed MSProxy Server 2.0 and nothing I do seems to work. I've read the books and the manuals and it seems I have set everything up correctly. When I start the program to check the validity of the server (chkwsp32 -f for those of you that have done this before) it states my server is either down or not a Winsock Proxy Server. Anybody have any ideas on this. Nothing on the clients will work (http, ftp, irc)
Thanks

Did you apply the latest service pack. Also the default installation is set for no access you need to assign permissions.

I figured that any service packs would work out minor bugs and not the major ones that I am having. I had intended to install the service pack once everything was running. I did check permissions but it still seems to not allow any clients in. The error message I get on the clients browser states the page they are intending to connect to does not have a default page and they may be upgrading it. I check through administration tool to see if any clients are connecting and it does appear as though the proxy server is receiving their request to connect as the graph shows activity. Any other ideas?

To be honest with you I haven't tried Proxy 2.0 on a 2000 server, I'm waiting for ISA. Remember Proxy was tied in closely with IIS 4.0 and I believe the default website had to be running. Don't know how IIS 5.0 and Proxy would get along.

Well, finally got it to work guys. It was loading the socks proxy service with IIS for whatever reason. I reloaded 2k server and MSP and it works great. In regards to using 2k servers services for proxy, I'm currently studying for my MCSE so I really need to learn it for my test anyhow. What better way to learn than by doing it. Thanks guys.
