wireless networking
I am trying to set up a wireless peer to peer network. One computer has Win Xp and has a cable modem attached that I would like to share. The other computer has Win 98. My problem is I cannot get the two computers to see each other. I'm new to this and probably have a setting incorrect. I have run out of ideas and need some new thoughts.
Thanks

Please give more details, which devices are you trying to configure (make/model) are you using an acces point, or are you using 2 cards in an ad-hoc format?

First off you are going to need to bridge the two connections on the XP box. This will make the xp computer the "router". But yeah we need more info before we can give a diagnosis.

Things you need to setup wireless
two wireless adapters
1 Access Point
If you dont have the access point or bridge you will not beable to see other machines on the wireless conection.
My setup at home
6 machines 4 running Win XP 1 running Linux and 1 runing mac
1 wireless router (smc)
2 SMC USB wireless adapters
1 SMC PCMCIA wireless adapater
3 nic cards
I have 3 computers hard wired intot he wireless router
I have 3 machines hooked up through wireless

[Router]
/ \\
3 Systems 3 systems wireless
</pre>
All wireless devices are on the same SID and same workgroup
Encryption password are all the same on all wireless systems
Whats nice about the router is that it is a DHCP server, Print Server, and Firewall Server.
All my machines are all running off dhcp not static ips

True IF you don't bridge the connection via winxp or use a program like softroute (for win98, me, etc) It's all in the configuration. The access point is the easiest way though.
