It's just 2 PC's on a p2p network and you can ping each pc but you can't see them listed in the network neighborhood browse list? Well be a little patient. Without a server, sometimes it takes a few minutes for the clients to show up in the browse list. Try creating a shared drive on one of the pc's and then manually type in the url to that shared drive from the other pc and see if it comes up. Also, be sure you have your main ingrediants installed (Client for MS Networks, TCP/IP, File and print sharing turned on, and of course the NIC driver.) Also couldn't hurt to do a Windows Update to that plain 98 machine. 98 is way buggy for p2p networks.

Btw,.. how do you have them hooked up? With a crossover cable or a hub or switch? Not that it matters, but I've seen cases of a p2p connected through a crossover cable where it took forever for the clients to show up in the browse list.

Since you just have those 2 computers, assign them each a static IP address
you can use 192.168.x.x. As WebHawg mentioned, make sure you have file and printer sharing turned on.
