Network Printer
We use a networked printer for the tellers to print cashier checks with. These printers don't have the printer drivers installed on each individual teller computer. The teller sends the data to the AS/400 which then sends it to the printer to print. All this works great.
The problem is we want to use a program called BondPro to redeem savings bonds, but this program needs a printer. My boss and I thought we could just install each printer on the tellers' computers and use them for redeeming bonds. The printers are HP 2100 LaserJets. When I try to redeem a bond and the computer sends info to the printer, I get an illegal error and BondPro shuts down.
error:
BONDPRO caused a divide error in module BONDPRO.EXE at 0177:00453922.

This also messes up how the AS/400 sends the checks. I also get a message saying that the port is not available and that the printer is in use by another program. I personally think that the printer is in use by the software on the AS/400, but my boss doesn't think that's the case. I would just hook up a deskjet to one of the teller's computers, but their ltp port is already used by their receipt printer. If anyone has any insight on this matter, I'd like to hear it. I realize that many if not all of you have never used BondPro, but any suggestions would help....

1. Which model of the 2100 (m,se,tn,xi) are you using?
2. Is this printer locally connected (LPT1) to the AS400 server?
3. Is this printer conected to or have an internal print server installed?
You have serval options depending on the printer your using. One of which is to setup and run it on an external print server with seperate driver connections for/from both both operating systems. Then point each to the correct network printer.

1. It's a 2100 xi.
2. No, it is connected directly to the network via twisted-pair cable with an IP address.
3. It has an internal print server installed on it.
