Wake on lan doesn't work...

I have a problem on my ASUS A7V133....

I am unable to start my PC with the WOL option.
Option is enabled in BIOS, NIC connected to the WOL connector on the motherboard.....Is there anything missing ?
I try to wake up the system through the other computer via the Explorer or network neighborough. IPs are fixed for both, same subnet.
Sorry for this newbie question but I am completely inexperienced on this WOL feature and could'nt find anything about it, neither on this forum nor on MBs or Chips sites

I got this from my ASUS A7V manual.
To enable Wake-On-LAN, your system requires an Ethernet LAN adapter card that can activate WOL function, a client w/WOL capability, and software such as LDCM, or that can trigger wake-up frame.

So that means......
I don't really know! LOL

Did you connect the cable to the MB for the WOL feature?

I also think that your NIC should have a Boot PROM too, but I'm not exactly sure. But, now, I got something to try on my network when I get home. I think my 3Com NIC has this feature.

When I read this originally, I thought,"Now I can't wait to see how this is done because I have never gotten it to work." It's a little depressing to see that it's just not a well implemented "feature".

While on the topic, does wake on ring work?

This feature is similar to "wake on modem" but it goes through the local area network.To use WOL you must have a card that supports this feature and connect a cable from the NIC card to the motherboards WOL connector.The system information[IP] is stored on the network card and because of high network traffic you need to install network management software such as ADM for checking on how to wake the system.Note that at least 600mA ATX stanby is required to support this function.
This is taken from an AOpen motherboard manual and seems to suggest that the IP address needs to be stored in the card EPROM/BIOS chip for it to work correctly.
Any help?
