[RESOLVED] Good Software Package for network Monitoring?

I'm looking for a good software package that I can use to monitor my work LAN. I want to monitor traffic and find weaknesses in it. I also want to be able to see what IP addresses are being used and by who.

Any help would be appreciated!

As for network traffic, I've used <a href="http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/mrtg.html" target="_blank">MRTG</a> in the past and liked its reporting features. I was even drafting up some HTML pages to display the results using a complete plan of the network, but I switched jobs before I could complete it.

Its a little complicated to set up, but trust me its worth it. Also, being able to put that you know how to utilize MRTG on your resume is pretty valuable, it WILL save your company $$$$$$.

It includes lots of really useful utilities including a feature called User Tracking. User Tracking allows you to see which users (works with NT domains) are using which IP addresses on which switch ports.

I use Languard, have to say it's good stuff, has some nice back features for admin uses, I've just downloaded MRTG, gonna give that a whirl.
