Angry MS Internet Connection Sharing or not as the case maybe!!!

I am having some problems with my home network. I have three machines wired up to a hub with a print server in the mix for good measure.

One computer has a V90 modem, one has a 28K one and the old 486 has no modem at all...

So I thought it would be a good idea to set up MS Internet Connection Sharing.

Only to find it's not the most reliable thing in the world, I have had it working once but never again. It looked good last weekend, all three machines were surfing away...

All other aspects of the network appear to be working fine.

    Any sugestions would be helpful

Make sure that the one you are using as the host has 98se or higher on it. Remove all networking protocols and devices as well as the internet connection sharing program itself, from all the machines. Remove dial -up networking and then reinstall it also.
Setup the host first and create the setup disk it will ask you if you want to make one.

Then go to the other machines and use the floppy created.
You should then be able to share the connection through the host again.

    Hope this helps.

maybe you should look into connection sharing that works. I've tried making the ms connection sharing work on numerous occasions but always foudn it lacking any sort of functionality. I recommend This they even have a free trial version that runs for one hour before shutting off. It's fairly easy to setup (plus there's tons of online help at the website) and you dont need to run any configuration scrips on the other machines just punch in the addres of the main machine as the gateway and your all set. also its extremely efficient and takes up next to no resources on your main comp where its running.
There are no stupid questions! Just stupid (l)users!

Thanks for the info Joker 1, I'll need it for my next upcoming project. A $0.00 internet connection sharing network on a cable modem. I prefer a hardware solution myself, but not everyone can afford it and W98SE's ICS is not very user friendly, plus it doesn't work all the time.
