Post New Chev El Camino - For the car types..

Well, GM has made a good desicion, and is going to be exporting These Beasts from down under, and badging them up as the new El Camino.

A friend of mine has a black one, red leather interior, and some mild mods. Managed to make a touch under 190Kw at the rear wheels.. thats over 250 rear wheel horses, without any major changes.

Serioulsy fast, and fun stuff.. perfect for 'cooking rice'

Yeah, they arent really rated to carry much in the tray. Basically, they are built as a 'hero' car. The image of a workhorse, with bucketloads of power... they sell like hotcakes down here

Looks interesting.

I think I like the originals better. New one appears to be too small; where as I recall seeing some from the 70's a "muscle car"

Australian Ranchero
Introduced in May 1961, the Falcon Utility, or 'ute', has been in production ever since. It has always been based on the Australian Falcon, which is still one of this country' largest selling cars. It was originally equipped with a 144ci six, though by the end of the 60's, 351's were optional. There was a 'sports' package too, called 'GS'('69 thru '76), though this was later changed to 'Rally Pack'('76 thru '79). Unfortunately, we never saw the big block engine options, though a 351 with the light, Falcon bodystyle was a reasonably quick machine.
302 and 351 Cleveland's (thats right, 302 Cleveland!) were available through 1982, when Ford Australia took the sad step of dropping the V8 across the board. Thankfully, they re-thought this recently and a 302 (with gt40 heads etc.) is now a regular option. Yeah, we're still using the old 302, imported direct from the US.
This new ute is called 'XR-8' and Ford also sells a 4.0 litre variant (called XR-6), which features a worked up straight six. Believe it or not, the six is as quick as the V8.
Utes are very popular here and the Australian Ranchero will no doubt be in production for a long time to come.

The Falken

The Falken is a Ranchero thats how a Ranchero became. It was based of the Falkon then it was the Falken Ranchero then Ranchero now it looks like its back to Falken
