Question Is it dog slow everywhere, or is it just me?

Here's the scoop, I live and work in a rural area, and business is slow...reeeeaaallly slow. It's not just slow here either, it's bad all across town. I'm just wondering if it's this slow across the country or if we're getting the poopy end of the stick. Any takers?

The business has been really slow as far as sales of any type of product. Carry in service has been fair, but not good. Onsite has been improving, but nothing grand. I was wandering through the classifieds this weekend and the "tech" column was down to about one column. Pretty poor considering it usually runs about 5 or 6 columns. I speak with a bunch of business owners in other professions, and they are reflecting the same slow down in business. Hangin in is about all ya can do.

Sales have been slow for a long while here. Service is pretty busy but thats only due to the fact that we provide all the warranty service on our machines. Unfortunately due to the slump we have lost alot of people we lost 4 people in our service dept during the last month alone. So that does not make things any better. In all we have less then a dozen people working in service and thats including our inhouse techs, onsite techs, network people, tech support, service management and reception people. About 9 months ago we had over 30 people.

The industry is in a slump and everyone is taking it pretty bad. Just look at what happened to gateway's attempt to expand into Canada. it failed miserably and all the new stores they built were closed in about 4 months.
There are no stupid questions! Just stupid (l)users!

Slow here too, but it's our slow season, plus the government is about to go on strike, and that always plays H311 with our local economy.

ok, I figured it out, we all need to do some rain dances and get a HUGE bolt of lighting to strike every business district in the US (or wherever your service areas are), that way we can all make killings on modems!!!!

Business has been slow for me since February. Between Gas inflation, roaming blackouts, and increasing cost of power, it may be time to conserve a little more than usual. I don't expect a big improvement until about August. That is usually when the next year's budget is forecast by the customers I'm dealing with and they start specing accordingly.
