Undetected near miss with Asteroid
A close one with an asteroid went undetected until days later.

Hell if this was in the movies they would of spotted this thing months ago. Tracked it orbit and asked someone to wake the president who would then send up a bunch of people to plant a nuke on which would fail to destroy the chunk of rock. Then just as its about to crash into earth.....wait this movie has already been made damm.

I wonder what would happen in a "Armageddon" situation?
It be one hell of a rush!

I think I'll paint a target on my roof to make sure that when we all go, I can go fast and painless.....

Flabooble!
My astronomy professors made sure to point out to us in class that this happens all the time - it's just not publicized. There's nothing we could do about something hitting us anyway.

Coming from inside and behind the earth orbit, the chances of a hit are pretty small and the chance that it wouldn't be burned up(on a slow orbit) are smaller...the chances of the particle getting through the atmosphere and killing anyone are smaller again.
I'd be more scared about a high speed asteriod coming from further out in the solar system.
