Hard drive crash
I have a 40gb fujitsu hd with a good 25gb worth being mp3's.When powered up I can hear a knocking sound which I have come across before but what I need to know is the best way to recover these songs from a corrupted hd,any ideas?

what i would do if the drive is still useable:
remove old drive
set up another hard drive with o/s etc
put old hard drive back in as slave, copy across data you want to keep. 25mb is too much for zip's or floppies!

Schui , agree w/ Andi , but you might also want to throw it ( Gently) in the freezer overnight before trying to save the data. The cold contracts the arm, heads ,etc. and apparently creates a bit more space between platters and heads so you can give it that one last shot ...
