Office politics..

I saw this today, and it got me thinking (first time for everything)



Who else is in a corporate environment like this?.. I know I can relate to a lot of what goes on in Dilbert, but specifically, a lot of the politically correctness garbage.. anyone else?

My cube now has shelves and cabinets, I'm still two steps away from the corner cube. I just need to figure out who I need to kill to get there.

That is my office big time. You have to watch where you step, what you say, how you look...
I just started sendind out my resume again, this place just isn't worth it. Tried to get some changes but when they are ignored for and by the people who I asked for the changes for, well you can only stand so much.
I have to read Dilbert everyday, some of the stuff is just too real. I will break out of my cube!!!!!

My office is a cubical, I am in charge of the computer supprot for my building, its like 10x 10 and its also the graveyard

In world war 2 "Island Hopping" worked. Where they don't go to one, then the next.
They'd go to one, then skip a few and go to another a few islands down (obviously in the Pacific)...

Maybe you could try that and go straight for the corner. But if you take out the one in the middle, you can "annex" both and have a huge one...

The last place I worked had the "open" environment. It was ok while you were a newbie. It helped you get to know people and the routine. But after awhile it became annoying. I wanted a quiet place to do my job and there wasn't one.

Now I have a fairly large cubical (6 x 12 and then another across the hall 6 x 6) and I have to say that I like it much more.

I've just had a job interview for a new job. I will be located at the same desk, Have the same phone number, Same computer, Same mobile and doing much the same job as I am now.

Come to think of it why the he11 did they interview me!!!!!!

I heard that! I'm in the "open environment" and I always feel like I'm one of the ducks that have full run of the zoo that everyone looks at just before they go to see the "caged creatures." Oh well, atleast I have an 18' desk. Never know what I'll do with all this room but it's nice and spacious.

I've never had to work in a cube. But Dilbert hit's awful close to the mark, especially at my ex job. Where I used to work we would have a meeting to schedule a meeting to meet in regards to the previous meeting minutes and then meet to discuss the agenda of the upcoming meeting (which no one followed anyway). Right before I left there was to be a committee formed to streamline the meeting process, but the meeting scheduled to outline the committe responsibilities had not been done yet!

Yep. I really don't miss the meetings to discuss what we're doing for the day.
"I'm going to fix computers and printers and then I'm going to call customers to let them know they are finished. Same thing I always do. What are you going to attempt to do today?"
We had meetings every Tuesday and Thursday and the owner would say the same thing every meeting. I don't miss the meetings one bit.

man. i had to work in a cubie for about 2 years. but now i moved into the nice big floor office with an *** sexy view of main street *rolls eyes* im king of the hill baby!... or the floor...whatever.

Our offices moved to Buckhead and I went from a tiny cube to a nice roomy one but I quit less than a month later. Now my cube is the dining room and I can see geese from here

Politics suck (sucks?). It's interesting to watch and figure out but It's hard to play without becoming a phony or worse... a union member.

The problem with PC is that it's based on "words" and not intent. I worked at one place where there were three of us named Chris. They called me big Chris, the middle guy Uno (his last name), and the small guy little Chris. That was around the time that Baseketball came out and someone called little Chris little Bitch and it stuck. He's a cool guy so we could bust his balls and there was no problem. But, if you called someone little bitch in a PC office, just being overheard could be grounds for firing. And that is crap.
