Post Of all the places to find an idiot.....

Why in the name of god are there so many stupid people in college? I walked upstairs the other day, and there was this girl boiling minute rice. It took her at least half an hour to make MINUTE RICE!!!! I don't know, but to me this seems just wrong. What is this person doing in an instituion of higher learning? Maybe we as society should hold people to a slightly higher standard......let me know i'm not alone here my brothers!!!!

What do you mean?? It doesn't take 30 minutes to make Minute Rice?? lol

No, you're not alone, but in her perspective the rice may not have been finished yet. Go figure.

This is going to sound messed up, but what the hell. I think you are seeing dopes in college because now we have made it possible for any old dope to go! Before all this touchie-feelie crap started, it was like, "No money, poor scores, McDonald's is hiring!" Now the bleeding hearts have decided that everyone shoud go to college, no matter how poor and/or stupid they are. Remember, these are the same people who force high scools to promote people who can't read, b/c it might hurt their self-esteem.

The result of all this is two-fold:
1. A degree today is barely worth a HS diploma of yesterday.

2. A shortage of blue-collar type workers. The McDonald's near my parent's house in PA is paying over $10/hr, because, well, nobody will flip burgers. WE NEED BURGER FLIPPERS!!!

I hear ya. My school is full of people who have very little grasp of the english language. Yet, when a senator insulted our state schools and said that we were not being properly prepared for the real world, they were the first ones to complain. Our college has people who are clinically retarded who go to it, who HAVE to be admitted to fulfill diversity requirements. All they do is make class harder for those of us who are really there to learn, because usually they don't understand. Out of the rest of the "normal" students, 99% of them seem to be socially and academically inept. Like the computer science students whose PC's I always have to fix. Or the guy who jammed the tape into his camera backwards and broke a $40,000 piece of equipment, then had the nerve to ask if he would get his tape back!!

Not to sound like a mom or anything but I truly think a lot of the problems we see are from parents not giving their kids any responsibility. It's sad she can't cook minute rice but I'm thinking she's never had to and that scares me more than anything. My oldest is six and he makes his own lunch for school and knows how to fold laundry. My point to this rant is this, they aren't going to know how to do it when they get to college no matter how smart they are if mommy's done it all up to this point.

I agree. It all stems from the upbringing. My oldest just turned 5, and she LOVES to help, but more importantly we let her become involved in all we do, day to day. She wants a drink, she gets one. She helps make dinner (sometimes) and sets the table. In a fast-food world, this is becoming all too odd.

I don't think it takes 30 minutes to make minute rice. But I've always wondered why they call it Minute Rice. Because I'm sure it takes longer than a minute to make it. With all the preperation involved, it's got to take at least 2 minutes! They should call it, "2 minutes and 13 seconds rice".
