 IDE Zip drive problems
customer has 1 10 Gig HDD partitioned into 2 5 Gig drives (C: D: ), Zip Drive (E: ), CDROM (F), Burner (G). Zip drive randomly changes drive letter with D: drive on every second reboot.
It's done this from day 1.
Any ideas guys?

Have you specified the drive letters each device should use in Device Manager? You can do this to force any drive (besides your HD's) to have a certain drive letter. If you don't do this, Windows will do it automatically (and in your case it's doing it wrong).
Go to: Control Panel, System, Device Manager, find the drive and view it's properties, Settings, look for "Reserved Drive Letters." Set the start and end drive to the letter you would like that drive to have. Do this for all removable devices.

MacGyver is right - You'll also achieve this by using Iomega's "Guest" util that should have come with the zip drive.
However I have seen machines with internal zip drives that shift drive letter even after using the Guest util to reserve drive letter - this is down to booting the machine with a disk in the zip drive - ensuring the disk is ejected from the drive before boot resolves this problem.

I somehow let that slip my mind. I guess i assumed it had been tried. Thanks guys, i'll give that a shot.
