Post Anyone Else Have this Problem?

Ok Yesterday I got my CABLE bill (Internet) and they gave me a notice saying that internet services are going up buy $5, WTF!!!!

Yeah its only $5 but thats $5, Im paying $40 for CABLE thats like paying for DSL, but only CABLE is slower. I think there trying to get me money. Well I guess its that time of year of greed and suffering o-well I hate December all the Companies ripping you off. Now In 3 months it will probily go back down $5 cause no one has the money to pay the extra $5 after X-MAS.

Anyone else have a increase in there ISP?

The two major broadband ISP's in Ontario, Bell Sympatico HSE DSL and Rogers Cable, have both raised their prices $5 to $45 as well. However it only applies to new customers; existing customers continue to pay the old rate as long as they are signed up.

Both Bell and Rogers are making major improvements to their networks so I can see where the extra $5 is going. (no jokes please )

Don't believe that crap about DSL being faster. It CAN be faster.... for extra money. Ameritech here in OH offers basic service for $50 at 256k down/128k up. Or for 130 mo. you can get 768k/256k. Funny I can get a T1 for not much more than that.

You can get a T1 for a little more than $130?!?!!? We pay $400 a month just for connectivity. The fiber line coming in the building costs us $350 a month. Till you get taxes/service fees in there it's almost $800 a month!!!!!

    I'm moving to Ohio!!!

No one can really say dsl or cable is faster. I work for an ISP that sells dsl, isdn, t1's , and dial up, and I know alot of people who have cable also. It all depends on alot of variables, like your ISP, location and equipment.

Anyway, I pay 45 for dsl and consistantly get 1.2 down and 220 up. Its worth every penny and hope I never have to go back to dial up.

I have to give props to my town. Here we have three cable providers, and at least 6 dsl providers. Strangely enough I found that the general public dont care (despite the hype). For now, the market is mainly businesses and enthusiasts.

    Lightbulb

With ISP charges included, I pay about $55/month for DSL that's 640 down and 272 up. I dumped Qwest as the ISP just a couple weeks ago in favor of a local provider that offered more for the same amount of money...

OUCH!!!! I use amerithech here in MI and they charge me 50 bucks for the 768/256 plan and I can upgrade my plan in the future to one of the other plans that ranges from 65-180 dollars. All's I can say is your getting screwed. What I really like about the ameritech service here is that the business prices are the same as the residential but they do have a few different plans.

    All I can say is
" YOU guys are soooooooooooooooo lucky"

no cable here in the Australian "BUSH"
and no plans for the next 24 months...there is no microwave backbone here
so we pay 45 dollars a month for a crappy dial up service that works sometimes.......
