UDMA puzzle
Greatings all - hope you can help with this one.
I am running a Gigabyte GA-6BXD board with a Quantum 13.6GB IDE h/d (7200 rpm model) and a Pioneer 6x IDE DVD drive.
I've been benchmarking hard disk performance, and CPU utilisation is around 90%. Is this normal? When I check Win 98 system properties the DVD drive has DMA checked. I do the same for my hard drive but when I restart the DMA option is unchecked.
I have enabled DMA in the machine's BIOS.

If you don't have it, you probably need the 80 wire/40 pin ultra-ATA ribbon cable for the HDD.
