In your posting you mentioned it hangs when booting, but then you go on to say when running for 10 minutes it's fine.If your system is freezing up when booting it is most likely hardware conflict related. If it freezes up after running for 10 minutes, check your settings for the processor speed. You may have the jumpers set wrong causing the chip to overheat. Also check the jumpers for the voltage setting, as incorrect setting will cause the chip to become unstable.
I hope this helps..

I am not sure what the full problem is, but tI think I had the same problem. My pc would boot into windows fine everything in systray would load then my cd-rom would spin and PC would lock. If I let the PC sit for 5-10 min it would boot fine. But then I would run a game and it would lock. I am running win 98 and had just sound card, video and 1 nic. I had a problem with IRQ sharing. I reinstalled win98se without ACPI by typing in setup /p i. Works great now. I know reinstalling sucks, but sometimes (rarley) it is the best answer.

What video card do you have. With some ATI and even a few others they sometimes need to 'warmup' before they can post. The only solution i've found is changing the card. Also try reseting the escd in the bios.

i do have a ati rage 128 card. that is what i was going to try to swap tonight in my never ending search for the answer. it does seem like it is a warm up problem.
if i use the computer (after having to hit reset and go in in 'normal' mode) and then shut down and restart it is fine, like it warmed up enough to not have the problem.

the power supply works. i just came home from work and it was pretty warm in california today and i had no problem.
also, could it be that i am running it through my hollywoood + decoder card? it has that pass through deal, and I wonder if that is the problem.
i will remove the hollywood and see what happens in the morning. its the damndest thing i tell ya.

Maybe your CPU is getting hot tray a case fan and dicover the air flow trough your case remember casecooler blows IN and your powersupply must blow the air OUT if your powersupply blows IN than your case cooler must blow OUT, maybe this will help

ok, just so you all know, i have deduced it down to either the ati video card, or the hollywood + decoder card.
i'll keep you posted with the answer here, when i have it.

I've seen a fair share of it in my time as tech support. The chip on that card actually needs to preheat to transfer correctly, normally this shouldn't be. If you can still get warranty on it RMA it. It may be close to complete failure.
