I really hate the focus towards multi-player in the latest FPS games as it takes away the problem-solving element. Running and shooting are fine, but I just get bored with doing that over and over again.

Half-Life and Half-Life: Opposing Force have got to be the best FPS games I've ever played for the whole entertainment value. Unreal Tournament and Quake III are both very nice graphically, but the whole "play against bots" thing sucks. I usually get to the point where one level of bot sucks big time and the next level up are impossible - unless you play against others online (and my 56K modem sort of discounts that!) then they lose their appeal quite rapidly.

I can't wait for the Half-Life: Blue Shift to be released as, although it's the same story again, it will have lots of quality puzzles to complete. The nice things about Half-Life is that by keep basing the games on the same story, they don't have to worry about introducing that story each time - you can just get on with the game play.

RTS? Don't really play them, although I did buy The Sims because it's pretty cool and thought the wife might like it.

    Cool

Half Life/Opposing Force, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom II (for the chainsaw) and Wolfenstein 3D (Original and the best).

My favourite would have to be Thief, the thinking man's Quake.

RTS - Not a big fan of them, but I like the Command & Conquer series.

Sorry, I just couldnt resist. When I first tried a TNT video card, it was after I had a Voodoo2. I was hooked with Nvidia since.
BUT... I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

3dfx sold out their video card "department" to Nvidia not because it was an inferior product but mostly because of mis-management issues.

At the time, Voodoo cards reigned supreme in the area of quality and the GeForce was an "up-and-comer".

But isn't this the wrong board for this?

Just a word of warning: TH 1 and 2 was about 90MB. My guess is all 3 episodes will be about 150MB or more. TH3 is on the PC Gamer CD for the mag that is in stores right now. You may do better to go ahead and buy it (especially if you have a dial-up or aren't into warez -- AFAIK, TH3 wouldn't be downloadable given PC Gamer's pattern of behavior with the series until about August).

    Cool

I was kinda bummed with TH3, all of this build up in the first two chapters and then it turns into a freaked out Half-Life story with the sherrif playing the Zombie G-man...
But over all that is the BEST mod I've ever played, I already started over with chapter 1
