    Question Two Way Satellite ISP

    I was wondering if anyone was using the two way satellite ISP stuff? I'm looking into getting it because DSL/cable is not available in my area. Right now I've found a deal where up front costs are around $500 and it costs $59.95 a month. Not too bad when you are lusting after a bigger internet pipe.

    I was specifically wondering if anyone has had experience playing the 1st person shooters with this type of connection. Wolfenstien/Quake...etc. Is this a good thing? At least better than dial-up?

    Has anyone had any horror stories? Any songs of praise for this new technology? Any input would be great as I have no experience in this area at all...
    if(post.eof()){SigBox.setText("Have A Day.");}

    I've never used it but i did a lot of research back before I decided on DSL (covered all my bases). For that price it is a great deal. As far as gaming goes it's not good. Latency is very slow. I think it's probably the same if not worse than dial up for that aspect. As far as horror stories go you'll get them from cable users dsl users dialup users everybody. It's all on personal experiance (unless EVERYBODY is saying the same thing). Just my 0.02

    its great really fast. Friend of mine had it. But its only good for downloading. Online games stunk. Better off with a dialup will that was his... it was about 2 years ago

    they may have improved it, but satellite can only go so fast.

    Lots of lag time with a satellite...some logical thought to the application and you'll see why. Very good for downloading, very bad for anything which requires lots of data going back and forth (like online gaming).
