overclocking a pentium 233

i have a pentium 233 and a tekram trm-p5t30b4
mobo. the pdf says it can handle up to a 200 in some places and others say it can handle a 233. nevertheless..im locked at 66mhz. could i jack the multiplier up to 4.5 to achieve a 297...or anything along those lines? if so what does the voltage have to be?

is this chip a p-54 or p-55?
for 54 i believe it is 3.3.

p55 it is 2.8 (mmx)

Is the 233 a socket 7 or a PII? If it is a PII, then you are stuck at where you are because the mulitplier on the CPU is locked down. You would need a buss speed higher than 66mhz to overclock.

If it is a socket 7, then you might be able to do it. Find out what the highest voltage settings your board can take. Then maybe go up one setting. See how stable it is at that setting. If it is unstable, then try to bump the voltage up one more. Do not go too high, because you might damage the CPU. If after a few bumps in the voltage it still is not stable, then assume that your CPU just can get that high, and try a lower setting for it. Remember to use a quality heatsink and fan. Bad cooling is the biggest cause of overclocking attempts not working. Good luck!

the highest bus speed is 66mhz...(its a socket 7). but can i leave the bus speed at 66 and up the multiplier?

I have a 233 mmx socket 7 cpu, your correct at the bus speed being 66 mhz, any higher and your memory is unstable, set your clock multiplyer to 3.5 to get the 233 mhz for your cpu, then to over clock set the multiplyer to 4 x , go up one step at a time and use a good heatsink and fan
If your cpu is the same as mine then the core voltage should be 2.8 volts and the I/O voltage should be 3.5 volts

bleh i overlooked the option to set my bus speed at 75mhz. nevertheless i set it at that to achieve a 266 (whoopie). i tried upping the multiplier first, but i kept getting a 133 ;\. ill run it a few days before i set it up as my server.

I was under the impression that Intel multiplier locke dthe MMX chips. That would explain the 133Mhz rating when upping it.

i have overclocked some 166mmx to 200mmx(all successfully) so at least some of the chips did not have a fixed multiplier.
but about the seeing 133. i had a gateway p233 that did not show any settings for p233 in the mobo manual, but had a sticker on the mobo itself telling me what jumper config to use for a 233. i think it was what i am now seeing in some mobo manuals as "reserved settings" for future processors. if you tried setting the multiplier to what you think should be something like p266 and it reads 133 use a cpu speed utility you find on windrivers and test the actual speed. because intel never released(i believe p266mmx(only p2-266) the mobo manufacturer may have not included support for displaying this speed correctly.
