Whoa dude, I can relate completely. Once, in college, my Kraft (none of that generic poo) macaroni and cheese (or is it cheese and macaroni?) didn't contain the magic orange dust packet!! I was furious. Throw in a can of peas and that was a gourmet meal I had been looking forward to. Ahh college...

So I took the empty box back to FutureShop (for my US friends, think CompUSA) today and got it exchanged - no questions asked - even though the receipt clearly stated that opened software could not be exchanged or refunded.
I have to give it to them for that. They gave me no hassle whatsoever.

Those are what I call "break time at the factory".
Down the assembly line go the software boxes when the lunch bell rings. Or someone like me is working there when they are bored and they go, "hmmm let's put a little mystery into someone's day"
