Blacklists

Is there a way to bounce back email using a DNS (open relay) to a black list website? Particularly if the black list websites are generating money at your expense? Is it illegal to bounce back?

You may have heard recently about a case of a company that was blacklisted for spamming, and is in the process of trying to sue the guy that had them blacklisted. On a world first case like this, I almost proud to say it is taking place in my home town. At this stage, it looks like the case is going to get thrown out of court, as well it should, paving the way for future legal cases regarding SPAM.

I read about that case. In their claim they listed a new server as one of the costs of being black listed. How does that work? I get black listed so in order to not be blacklisted I have to buy a new server?

The thing that confuses me about spam, why does anyone do it? Do people ever buy stuff from spam emails? I'd be terrified to give my credit card info to an organization like that.

I don't fully comprehend the concept of "SPAM"

other than its a tin of sandwich ham that tastes filthy...something like camp pie...

I had a customer who was barred from his isp for apparently "Spamming"
and what he did was advertise his business in the sig line of his emails....

And if they send out a million spams and get 10 responses, they have 10 responses/customers for a total investment of $0. Yes people do read and respond to spam, otherwise nobody would bother sending it out to begin with.

Every Friday, Saturday and Monday I get a big blast of junk mail. They are the same email's everytime. I'm unsubscribed to all of them at least a dozen times.

Don't these freaks relize that no one will click on their ads. I have never and will never, ever, ever click on an advertisement.

This is trashing the Internet all to hell...

I was on one of msn.com pages when this 640x480 screen overlapped the web page, I could not close it or click anywhere else for about 30sec. That's BS.

As far a blacklisting goes, I say if you own the domain, you have full control of it. I would call your ISP or Internic to find out more details. I know that my compay has been blacklisted on a few other companies because of viruses.

Unsubscribing is the biggest joke, it just lets spammers know you received the message and that the address is valid. Then they send you even more.

I get very little junk mail because of a little tool called "FILTERS"

Hotmail has custom filters as does outlook, check through your junkmail and find the words/from addys/domains that REALLY like to spam and add that you your auto delete.

the easiest way not to get spammed is to get some email address that you would never use otherwise, and use that address when you sign up for free stuff, online games, whatever, like a hotmail or yahoo account.

I find that as long as I don't put my name on the net, i don't get spam.
