I also like George Carlins view on the Death Penalty. Pay-per-view blood match and race for the 6 inch door to freedom that is only open for like 4 seconds

I understand his viewpoint to a degree, it IS a simple and tidy solution. It doesn't require anyone to get their hands bloody in the "morality" of the state executing criminals.
It is always easier to sympathize with the damned than think that people can be merely EVIL. Its tempting to assume these deranged madmen/women had "traumatic childhoods" to account for their deviant behavior. What a bunch of crap, irregardless of environment, we still make personal choices and pay them. But I am digressing. **remember I'm only refering to VIOLENT OFFENDERS**
My other pquestion, is WHO WOULD PAY FOR THESE "GULAGS". I assume that I the taxpayer would. Why should I have to spend MY money on funding the lodgings of the fu&*ing scum of humanity? Again, but I do that already, I pay for them to have TVs, air conditioning, full medical and dental care, 3 meals a day etc. ANd don't even try to tell me how bad prison is, if it were so bad, why would you do crap that will assure your return if you get caught. ****keep in mind here I'm not talking about people who commit petty non-violent crimes, I'm talking about violent offenders, repeat offenders*****
I would possibly support the "Gulag" idea if it was Federally supervised BUT privately run. Make these scumbags PAY for their lodgings. Hell, make the prison system turn a PROFIT instead of turning boys into career criminals. Call it forced labor... Of course the loonies will come out and denounce the idea as the "second holacaust" "whither human rights" etc etc.. but to me, society still has to keep "Capital Punishment" as brake upon its most evil members. And please don't talk about, "CP isn't a deterent", come on, anyone who has been executed has been "Detered" big-time. I'm not even going to get into the "racial" element of CP.( Yes there have been injustices in the past, and yes, we as a society need to take steps to prevent them.) But the idea is sound, and if the Gulag idea were properly implemented, we could make the idea of Prison a deterent, and reserve CP for only the most heinous of offenders. And yes, fear is stronger than love as a deterent. <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0"> Hope some of this was coherent....if not, well I haven't been able to have caffeine for almost a full week, argh....
