Post Net Nanny

Can nayone suggest a good program along the lines of Net Nanny to protect a childs eyes while he is online?

I know some peoples first response maybe to say "Just monitor what he is doing the whole time." There may be a moment where one of us may have to go to the bathroom or something like that. We always keep an eye on what our son does online because we are concerned parents.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just a thought - but doesn't AOL have filters of the sort? Might not be a bad idea to open him an account.

Jeeze- I can not believe I just suggested AOL ***knocks on head - listening for an echo***

Seriously, I have heard some good things about Cyber Patrol ; but IMHO I believe they are all pretty much the same.

Heres the scoop with AOL...

• I met my wife through AOL..... good thing.
• AOL is SLOOOOOWWWW as HE77!!!
• AOL doesnt have the braodband enacted yet from what I heard.
• AOL's filtering in reality is a piece of crap. When I was on AOL for a while they were saying they had no spam mail going through. You had to go through all kinds of digging just to find where the freaking "filter" is supposed to be and half the time it didnt work.
• AOL is kinda like Microsoft. They use subliminal stuff to make you think they rule and everything else sucks!!! When I installed XP Pro on this computer I couldnt quite force myself to get rid of the wallpaper. THEY ALMOST ASSIMILATED ME!!! LOL
• And as the old saying goes...Once you go braodband... you NEVER want to go back!

But anyways... thanks for the input about Cyberpatrol. I was in process of checking out their webpage.
If it aint broke, TWEAK it!
When in doubt, throw it out!!

AOL does have broadband taz. A friend of mine has DSL through them. It's not priced to bad but it's the stupid software that you have to install (AOL) that makes it bad.

There are a few ISPs that filter for you. Unfortunately, I think they are all dail-up and no broadband.

I use to work at CompassLearning, Network Admin.
anyway Net Nanny don't work that well, and Cyber Patrol was about the only Child filter that our
test and QA dept.s found to be of any use It work pretty good.

As far as AOL they have a censorship dept.
but for small net surfers a good filtering
system.

But then again it is AOHell!

Our library uses N2H2 www.n2h2.com and it does a very good job. In addition, if you do run across a site that you think should be added to the list you can submit it to them.
