Anyone want to share a page number of where Windrivers is mentioned, I'm too lazy to look right now.
Nevermind, its on page 10. Its a general pole about paying for web based tech content which a majority said no way.
Windrivers was mentioned below as an FYI

Here's a (low quality) scan of the cover.

There is a blurb and a survey in the new MaxPC in which the majority if those surveyed said they would never pay for online content.

Thats not the only place this site is getting talked about. I'm starting to see more and more posts trickle in asking for user/pw in the newsgroups.

That's an apple to oranges comparison I suscribe to Maximum PC, and my other monthly computer mags to recieve exclusive content. Articles only found in those magazines.
Windrivers certainly doesn't offer any exclusive content. It's a redirect service that is exceptionally organized. The question becomes is finding everything you need from one really great portal site worth the yearly subscribtion. For me the answer is no. (at least not at $30 a year. At $5.00 or even $10 a year I'd sign up)
A better comparison would be if anandtech or Tom's hardware suddenly became subscription sites because they are in essence online hardware magazines. If they started charging, I'd be more likely to pay a subscription then here at windrivers.
