    Unhappy

Hate to see you disappear back to the depths of Lake Superior there Chowderhead!

You are one of many humorous pioneer contributers to this site.

I hope that Scott at least appreciates that. i'm sure he does. But I can't speak on his behalf.

Anyways, take it easy, maybe we'll see you again.

P.S. Try not to meet up with any killer whales
upon your return to the depths of Lake Superior!

Oh, I forgot to put this in earlier - We do not want you to go. Leaving will not help anything. Change only comes from within.

Like MacGyver said, I post here to try to help people who have come here asking for help. I've also enjoyed the Community of WinDrivers personalities, but for me, it distils down to people come here for help and I can help some of them.

As for our posting here enhancing revenues for Scott & Internet.com, try saying it the other way around: our posting attracts people to WinDrivers which creates revenue to keep the Forums operating and free.

Wayward, I hope your feelings about what has happened won't sour you on being part of WD, I know you are valued by the people who make these Forums what they are.

/me is going to try his hardest to keep this from turning into a flame...

I tell ya what...I might've been gone a while, but I've got friends, or at least I had friends, on both sides of this "issue". I've heard enough about it from different sources, and amazingly enough, all versions pretty much told the same story.

But, let me say this first - I've left this site and came back more times than I can remember. The only reason I'm "back" now is because I had a tech question I needed to have answered. Believe me, no matter how popular you are, no matter how well-loved you are, people get over it sooner or later. You can try to pat yourself on the back for WinDrivers' success all you want, but the bottom line is that Scott made this site what it is. Yeah, there are a few people he has to thank for help along the way - and he has - but it's not the masses here in the forums.

Sure you might generate clicks, but for the most part, you're just wasting bandwidth. I go down the active topics list, and I'm seeing about 50/50 Lounge vs. Tech forum posts. And that's not even beginning to take the steam room into account, as it's not listed on active topics. Now, simple question - how many of you click banner ads here? "Generating clicks" isn't enough. Unless you're clicking those banners, you aren't doing a damn thing for Scott or this site other than creating more traffic.

I didn't plan to return to the lounge on this trip. I didn't ask Scott to re-open my old account, because I didn't want access to the Steam Room. I had a nice, non-discreet name, so no one would have a clue as to who I was. But then I saw this topic bashing Scott for his "lack of caring", and I felt the need to respond. And I figured if I'm gonna state my mind, you should damn well know who I am.

Now, back to the issue at hand here - why doesn't Scott respond to this mess? Maybe he doesn't want to get involved in all this political BS. Maybe he's disappointed because he's given you people every damn thing you've asked for, but he still gets a knife in the back over this. Either way, the bottom line is, Scott does not have to and should not have to deal with this. This crap happened in the steam room - a no-limit, unmoderated forum. Everyone knew what it was going in, and now when someone gets into a hissy fit, you want Scott to solve your problems? Bull****.

At the end of the day, WinDrivers will go on, regardless of who is and who is not posting here. Sure, people come and go. But this is a tech site, and Scott's done a good job with it. If you don't like the way he's running it, or feel like he's treating you unfairly, then get the hell out.

Scott has done too much for this site and its users to have this sort of BS thrown on him.

For any who didn't READ my post, I never SAID I was leaving. What I said was I was going to stop CONTRIBUTING. The only way I will leave under my own steam is if someone bans me.

Yah, I like my friends here and don't want to stop helping them... but half of them have gotten too annoyed to stay around here anyways.

No, I don't think I am going to have any negative impact on the site by leaving.

But I am not going to go to any further efforts to have a POSITIVE impact on it.

The people who have left didn't leave because of anger.

I thought it through quite rationally and logically and came to the same conclusion that Curt and Renee and several others have. We quite simply don't like what Scott did, so we don't feel like helping him make money.

They chose to leave. I don't feel like doing that right now, so I'm gonna stay around and have some fun with people like Ya_Know who get off on having their buttons pushed.

    Thumbs up

Why the cry for an authority? There is no authority in life. Some throw that burden to god. Maybe that's why he's only been seen in muffins lately.

It would be cool if people could to figure out how to get along and take the individual responsibility to do so.

Little kids cry dad or mom. School kids cry for a teacher. Adults cry for god. ...that need for an authority figure thing is bizarre.

What if scott alreay posted his feelings under another name? Would it make any difference? Outside of violent threats and illegal activities the forum is very open. You may disagree with another persons thoughts but, here, they have the right to voice them. You don't have to listen. If you do, you may enjoy the difference of opinion. I like that quality about Windrivers. I like the board. It'll change and evolve and maybe everyone will be driven away by the chaotic politics but I doubt it.

Where else am I gonna get a Reveal radio tuner driver?

If you say you aren't going to contribute anymore and you want to keep in touch with friends (a lot of whom have left) why not just leave? Don't misunderstand this, the tone of this isn't sarcastic or angry. I just don't understand. If you aren't going to "have a positive impact" on the forums and you can readily keep in touch via email with your forum friends, then what's the point of even hanging around? unless sabotage JK

now a general statement about the whole "windrivers mess" I think I have to echo the sentiments of others who say "It's just a website" For me it's a time killer. I'm on when I'm at work because usually work is slow and boring and it's either read and post or script pratical joke programs in DCL on VMS to mess with the other operators. Scripting becomes tiresome, so I read a post quite a bit. When I'm home and bored, I check up on the boards (like now as I wait for my sweetie to shower so we can go out) If I have better things to do, I do them. the soap opera that has become these forums is sad, and pathetic. The site is primarily a support site. Perhaps everyone should focus more on offering support whether in chat or on the forums. And hey ask a question you are wrestling with because I'm sure it will get answered and will then get archived and be searchable for future users who may experience the same thing.
