Annoying pop-ups

What is a good pop-up ad blocker?
Preferably free...

I use Pop-Up Stopper Pro only been using it for a few weeks but it does the job nicely.

I used to use the one included in teh trial veriosn of TweakXP (which once set to run on startup & not switched off at all) runs indepentantly of the 50 use trial period That one was fine except if it picked up a pop-up that was in it's list it would close the IE windows down as well (which was a PITA).

I am now using the one that is included in ZOne Alarm Pro v3, which is first class & you don;t even know that a pop-up has been launched (unlike TweakXP's version). I know it is not free but for teh price it is it is a bargain getting teh benefits of ZA Pro's firewall as well (which is much much better and tweakable than the free version)

I just checked that out, Zone alarm seems good, but the suite is a whole mess of stuff I don't need, my router has a hardware firewall built in it...

hmm.. Maybe I'll chekc out Smurf's suggestion./

I just installed it - seems pretty good, but I cannot open another IE window, or if I want them to come up, I have to stop it.

*shrug* I guess it'll be a tradeoff I'll have to live with.

Panicware Popup Stopper works great. If it blocks a popup that you want to see, hold down the control key while clicking on the link to override.

Today is a sad day.

After numerous reports of problems with Internet Explorer from many new PopUp Killer users I have decided to discontinue my most beloved little baby.

At 6 years of age, the most popular ads control application is deceased..

Under other circumstances I would have tried to figure out the cause of the problem. Unfortunately, the cause appears to be related to a combination of factors that I just can't reproduce. Problems with the setup, with the user's machines, bugs in Internet Explorer, illegal (bootleg) versions of PopUp Killer floating around on the internet, lack of support back from the users having this problem and many other situations have made of this problem a disease that affected PopUp Killer for about 3 months and finally, as any mortal virus, took its life.

Mac's right. I use Popup Stopper too, and you can use the control or shift key when clicking a link. Also (Ijust noticed) you can double click the systray icon to enable or disable it.

With Popup Stopper you can customize the sound and choose any .wav file which is pretty cool, not to turn this into a contest or anything, just pointing that out.

I agree with MacGyver and craigmodius.
I use the free version of panicware's pop-up stopper for when I actually run IE6, and it works great.

and for the record i have the sound turned off. it gives you a small visual symbol over the tray icon when it blocks a pop-up.

I prefer Analog X's POW. there are only a few preconfigured pop ups that it kills, but you can add any pop up window to the list when they appear. I like it because it doesn't kill useful pop up windows like some of the other anti pop up / banner software I tried.

It works really well when you have a surfing pattern pretty much established, because once you add the pop up to the banned list, you'll never see it again.
