my 30 GB HDD heats up

Hi,
My HDD is acting strangely,,,,I just recently hook up my old 2gb Hdd to my new system with a 30hdd -2mb cache- 66udma- matrox (not sure about the spelling) as the host and had my hood popped off.
After I hooked up my 2gb hdd (IBM), windows starts to act strange whent the temperature (room temperature) gets a little warm (around 30 degree celsious) my system starts to freez and "blue screen of death" and I notice both of my HDDs gets really hot. One thing I also noticed is that both hdd ONLY gets warm when I hook my old 2gb up with my 30gb hdd.

If I remove either one of them..this doesn't happen.

any clue anyone?

Maybe a bigger PSU.
You can also buy Hard Drive Fans in some stores.

Running two hard drives will cause things to get warmer and because they are stacked together, the excess heat will cause the lockups. Case fans or exhaust blowers and hard drive coolers will help your system, but the room will stay warm with the extra drive.

Hi,
both of my hdd is not stacked up on each other, there's a one hdd space between the two (there's two hdd and two floppy slots, i put the 30 gb on bottom and the 2bg beneath the floppy)

how does an hdd fan fit into the system? how much does it usually cost?

you can get the one peice hard drive coolers. or get the rack drive colors both work great.

I'm with DANIMAL...I think your power supply is insufficient. Devices will heat up if they're not getting sufficient power and potentially cause crashy problems...
